The next major update to RetroArch, version 1.4.1, has moved to 'Open Beta' status and is now the new stable branch.
You can read the announcement here, but a summary:
RetroArch is a frontend for emulators, game engines and media players. It enables you to run classic games on a wide range of computers and consoles through its slick graphical interface. Settings are also unified so configuration is done once and for all. In addition to this, you are able to run original game discs (CDs) from RetroArch.
- Improved Netplay. This is the major new feature, and also the reason they're calling it a beta.
- UTF-8 language support
- Free Bomberman clone, Mr.Boom. multiplayer only.
- New menu effects to make things prettier
- Vulkan N64 (ParaLLel) and PSX (Mednafen) works on Android. Vulkan is a low level graphics API like DirectX 10 and Metal. Don't expect miracles, as GPU isn't the bottleneck in either of these emulators.
- Improved performance
- Android: Fixed longstanding touch bug
- Android: GLES3/3.1 support. This enables the new fancy interface on supporting devices (2nd Gen 2015 Fire TV is only Fire TV device that supports 3.1, 1st Gen 2014 Fire TV supports 3.0)
- There are tons of gaming applications that are available for Fire Stick on Amazon's Official App Store. However, as an alternative to downloading all the games individually, there's an app to install to access all the games. You need to install the RetroArch app on Firestick.
- Retroarch control stick firetv controller; Forums. Fire TV Themes and Apps. T AppGalaxy Max Hz (Real-Time.
- Amazon has announced that the software update which brings the new Fire TV interface will begin rolling out to more devices starting today. The Fire TV Stick 4K, both 1st and 2ng-gen Fire TV Cubes, and the 3rd-gen Fire TV pendant are the models that will be getting the interface update over the next few days.
- The Fire HD 8 is a wonderful travel device for reading books, watching movies, and – with a gamepad and 15 minutes of work – playing retro games. All without an internet connection.
I'll update the main RetroArch post ASAP.
